Earlier this week, we had another little "teaser" snowfall. Just enough to cover the roof tops, trees and lawns. At one end of my street is an open bird sanctuary and we get the most beautiful birds come through our yard. As I was making this card, I was thinking about the cardinals that land on the tree branches out back after a snowfall. It really is one of the prettiest sights. The beautiful rich red against the white snow. I'm fortunate that I get to witness nature at it's best!
I bought this stamp set because I loved the font in the sentiment, never really seeing the beauty in the bird and the holly branch. There's such beautiful detail in the stamped image that I hope I did it justice with my coloring. I stamped the sentiment and image in Soft Suede. To add the color, I used my blender pen and Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green and Soft Suede ink pads. I highlighted just a little with Summer Starfruit ink.
Here's the technique: Close the ink pad and squeeze the center very gently; now open the ink pad and you'll see a little bit of ink color on the inside top flap. Just tap your blender pen into the ink on the top flap and transfer the color onto the stamped image. You can blend as you go adding as much or as little color as you want. In this case, I let the image guide me.
