A little late this week for the Pals Paper Arts new Sketch Challenge, but I made it! Margaret's sketch is so "inviting", I knew I had to join in the challenge. I felt the same way when I first saw the Age Awareness stamp set. I had to have it. So, I put them both together and came up with this project.
Normally, I wouldn't mix fonts in a single card, but this works. The very whimsical font in the sentiment works well with the more conservative font in the balloons for two reasons:
- The patterned paper from the Moonlight DSP stack can work with either font. The swirly lines of the balloons and the "HB" repeat the lines in the DSP.
- The bold colors of the patterned paper work well with the more whimsical and bold font in the "Happy Birthday" sentiment.
- So it's the DSP and the colors that bring it all together.
Speaking of colors… I really think Blackberry Bliss is becoming a front runner for me. It's so rich and warm. Hello Honey also has depth… it's a good yellow for the new 2014-2016 suite of In Colors, but "yellows" most always act as neutrals (when in doubt, use yellow), and this card wouldn't "pop" as much without the Blackberry Bliss.
The Stamp Set… "Age Awareness"… What a fun set! Great mix of fonts and very trendy… and it's Photopolymer!… it inks up beautifully, transfers magically, and sticks like glue to your Clear Mount Blocks.
So, grab some fun patterned paper, mix up some fonts and create something wonderful!
