PP Smiles

Today, I was inspired by this week's Paper Players Color Challenge. LeAnne chose a few of Stampin' Up!'s new 2014-1016 In Colors;  Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss and an old favorite, Wisteria Wonder. Trendy indeed!

So, for the first time, I used my new ink and wow… not sure if Blackberry Bliss or Lost Lagoon is my favorite. They're both stunning. I think we'll see a lot of Mossy Meadow as we break into Fall and the Holiday Season, and be sure, it's a winner too!

Lots of white space on this card definitely qualifies it as a "Clean and Simple"… I used a Blackberry Bliss card base with a Whisper White layer, fussy cut a few stamped flowers from Polka Dot Pieces, stamped the leaves in Mossy Meadow and punched them with my Bird Builder Punch. The "smiles" sentiment is stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink and I scattered a few Wisteria Wonder Candy Dots for some color balance.

Here's some simple Design Tips:

  • Lots of pattern repetition nothing but curves and circles.
  • Movement In a quick glance, the entire design "moves" toward the center of the card. Take a quick look at the card and your eye will focus on the word "smiles" which ends at the center of the card. My sentiment moves toward the center and the leaves are pulling the flowers to the center.
  • Rule of Thirds Three flowers, three candy dots and three elements.

So, grab some of your new "2014-2016 In Color" inks and stamp something beautiful. Keep one of these "Design Tips" in mind… it's fun!
