This week over at the Pals Paper Arts Challenge Blog, they’re challenging us with color. Katy came up with a very creative combination, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive and Calypso Coral.
So, here I was again… challenged! If you’ve read my past blog posts, you know I enjoy playing with patterned paper… and that’s exactly where I went… to my paper stacks. There were two different and current themes that featured these colors: “Wildflower Fields” from Sale-A-Bration, and the “Pretty Petals” DSP Stack from the Annual Catalog. There’s a slice of each in today’s project. The “Hello My Friend” sentiment stamps are from a Sale-A-Bration set called “Hello”… and, it’s FREE now through March 31st with a $50.00 catalog product purchase.
I haven’t used Lost Lagoon in a long while and, Wow!, it’s such a beautiful shade of warm blue that I immediately thought to pair it with Calypso Coral. That worked nicely, but how would I work in the Old Olive… a flagged banner always solves that problem, but it wasn’t enough… sequins (which I adore), were too small for the mood of the card, so buttons it was. (That cute striped button is from “Home For Christmas Designer Buttons”, which is retired now).
Below are my project dimensions:
- The Calypso Coral card base is A-2 (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″)
- The Whisper White layer is 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″
- The Calypso Coral DSP layer is 4″ X 5 1/4″
- The Whisper White sentiment banner is 1 1/2″ X 3 1/4″
- The Old Olive flagged banner is 3/4″ X 3 3/4″
With Sale-A-Bration in full swing, take a few minutes to write your “Wish List” and get this very happy stamp set and the Wildflower Fields DSP absolutely free!

An adorable card, Debbie! Just the right amount of texture and mix of color. And using the buttons like they might have been larger sequins is a great idea. I have already pinned this card for a future CASE… Thanks for playing along with my color challenge at the PPA this week. We always look forward to your entries!1
Love it. Those buttons add so much fun to this card. They seem to be bouncing around. Hanks for playing alomg with Pals Paper Arts.
Thank you, Shawn. The striped button is actually Stampin’ Up! Was from “Home For Christmas” suite that retired. Never know what’s lurking in our stampin’ stash.
