Today’s post is simple and casual. This is a thank you card I created for one of my customers. I hope the sunflower and the colors will make her smile.
I’ve been putting a lot of mileage on the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle lately. This is just another sample of how versatile this Bundle is.
The “Thank You” sentiment stamp is from the Love of Leaves stamp set. I wanted something small so not to take any attention from the patterned paper and sunflower medallion.
Now, I want to talk about this Designer Series Paper. It gives the card a certain degree of “casual” and that’s what I wanted to accomplish. This is a good example of how color and pattern affect the “mood” of your project. I know I’ve talked about this before, but you have no idea what I think about when I’m creating a card. I go in all sorts of directions with an idea and when I eventually get that “Aha” moment, I go with it. Since I’ve created a new craft studio, I don’t throw my DSP on the floor to search for inspiration any more, but I do toss it all over my crafting table. As soon as I saw this Misty Moonlight pattern, I knew I had my card design.
This DSP is one of those patterns that has lots of texture which can really set the tone of the project. To me, it looks like a patch of denim. The Bumblebee dotted layer works well with the “denim” look since there is a pattern repeat. I’m sure the artists over at Stampin’ Up! knew that way before me!
Both the Bumblebee dotted layer and the Misty Moonlight layer are from the 2020-2022 In Colors 6 X 6 Designer Series Paper pack. Each year, when Stampin’ Up! releases their new “In Colors” I’ve always purchased the Designer Series Paper. It becomes a “must have” staple in my paper stash.
So, grab your patterned paper, crop a large sunflower and create something simple and casual.
