Happy New Year!
Welcome to the first Paper Players Challenge for 2021! LeAnne is our Hostess this week and she asked us to use something new in our design; something we’ve never used before.
My card is a mix of new and very new. The Curvy Dies have been around for a short time and the Floral Gallery Dies and Many Messages Bundle are brand new.
I wanted to create something bright and “happy” for our first Paper Players Challenge in the new year. I thought a colorful card with black and white neutrals and bold lettering would be fun.
The bold lettering is from the large die in the Floral Gallery Dies. This Die is a first for me. I didn’t realize each word was separated until I used it. It was easy to create a “shadow” for the lettering since the font is so large and bold. I cut two sets of letters, one in white and one in black and slightly offset them when I glued them together. The Basic Black shadow gives the white lettering depth. Although I didn’t use an embossing folder, this design has a lot of texture. The Curvy Dies helped accomplish that.
The inside card sentiment reads, “Wishing you a year of magical moments and wonderful memories.”
Bumblebee, Misty Moonlight, Magenta Madness and Just Jade are fun colors and work beautifully together. I added a little more Bumblebee which helped the other colors pop. I always say… when in doubt, go with yellow! Yellow is a great neutral or accent for any project.
The inside sentiment is from the Many Messages Bundle. This sentiment works perfectly with the Happy New Year message I want to send.
This card was a cinch to put together. With one of the Curvy Dies, I cut a bunch of oversized cardstock layers and attached them to a Whisper White card layer. Although I had to trim the sides of the first Whisper White layer before I added it to the second Whisper White layer, it all sat nicely on a Basic Black card base.
So, pull out something you haven’t used – a bold sentiment die, colorful cardstock or a heartfelt sentiment and create something amazing to link up with the Paper Players! We’re excited to see what your “New” is.
