Happy Monday! Hope you all had a chance to spend some time in your craft space over the weekend. I made on some fun fold cards to donate to a local nursing home. That’s one of the joys of card making for me. I know my cards are being shared and enjoyed. I also took some time to look at my current Annual Catalog… again! This is an “inspiration exercise”. I use sticky notes to jot down my ideas from the samples I see. I substitute stamp sets and patterned paper and have a whole new “idea book” of cards to make.
Today’s Card’s Pieces and Parts
- Once I have my initial card layout, I put the pieces together. I do make changes along he way, but that’s part of the creative process.
- The tulip floral pattern from the Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper is my color inspiration.
- I cut a standard top fold card base 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″.
- The Poppy Parade polka dot layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″.
- The floral patterned paper vertical strip is 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ and is slightly offset to the left on the card front. It’s just about 1″ from the right side.
- Across the card front is a Pear Pizzazz piece that measures1 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ .
- One of the Scalloped Contours Dies helped create the Basic White scalloped layer.
- The scalloped edge die from the Scalloped Contours Dies created a wide scalloped Pool Party layer tucked behind the scalloped rectangle.
- I stamped the leaves directly to the layer, stamped and fussy cut the flowers and added a Brushed Brass Butterfly.
- The circle sentiment caught my eye in the Flowering Tulips stamp set. It’s stamped with Evening Evergreen ink and die cut it with one of my Stitched Shapes Dies.
- I find it easier to use glue for my layers. The glue gives some time to position the layer.
- The scalloped layer, flowers and sentiment are attached to the card with Dimensionals.
So, cut a simple card base, add a few layers and a brass butterfly and create something thankful!
…the only limitation is your imagination!
