It’s been a while since I created one of my CAS collage cards.  I simply adore moving cropped, patterned shapes around until I get the “look” I want.  This design began with the floral scalloped tag and just evolved from there.

Here’s a photo of my pieces and a quick how to:

IMG_20160308_163613249_HDR

IMG_20160308_171014492_HDR

  • I started with a Whisper White A-2 card base and stamped a little splatter dots with images from the “Gorgeous Grunge” stamp set.
  • Dimensions for the scalloped tag are 2″ X 3 1/2″ (punched using the “Scalloped Tag Punch”).  This was my first cut piece.
  • I didn’t like the was it looked with the tag in the center of the card, but I needed that large piece there to carry the rest of the design, so I punched the floral scalloped circle and cut a rectangle 1 7/8″ X 1 1/2″.  These shapes would balance the center tag on either side and continue keep the “straight line” and “scallop” theme.
  • So, I glued the heart patterned rectangle and the scalloped circle to the center of the card, then placed the scalloped tag on dimensionals over these pieces… now I was getting somewhere!
  • Two more rectangles would create my sentiment “frame”.  The vertical floral rectangle is 3/4″ X 4″ and the Crumb Cake heart patterned rectangle is 3 7/8″ X 5/8″.   I attached them both using dimensionals.
  • I stamped the “hello spring” image in Crumb Cake ink onto a second scalloped circle and trimmed the bottom just enough to tuck under the horizontal crumb cake strip.
  • I tucked in some Linen Thread and added two flowers from the “Circle of Spring” stamp set.  Two “Blushing Bride” candy dots finished the flowers.

All of the patterned paper is from the “Love Blossoms” DSP Stack.  When creating a pattern collage design, the 6″ X 6″  “stacks” make it so easy to choose the patterns you want to use.

Pals Spring Celebration Blog Hop

Welcome to the March Pals Blog Hop celebrating spring. This month we are featuring spring related projects for Mother’s Day, Easter or any other occasion that celebrates winter coming to an end… finally!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Michelle Gleeson at Stampin Mojo on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Here's my tribute to Spring… flowers, flowers and more flowers. Stampin' Up!'s beautiful "Painted Petals" stamp set is just stunning. The stamps are so detailed that the flowers really do look as though they were painted with watercolors. These note cards are 3 1/2" X 5" and my color inspiration came from the "Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper".

Rose Red Beautiful Blooms

“Hello Occasions” – the Pals January Blog Hop!

Welcome to the first Pals Blog Hop of 2015. We hope your new year is off to a great creative start. To celebrate the new Stampin' Up! year, we are showcasing products from our newest catalog this month – the Occasions Catalog. You may also see new Sale-a-bration products too! If you don't know how to earn free Sale-a-bration products – contact your demonstrator to learn more.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Kerry Willard Bray at Peonies and Paper Chains. Use the full lineup below to move along from blog to blog so you see all of the new projects.

Love

So, for our Hop, I decided to play with some patterned paper from "Stacked With Love" DSP stack. There are 48 sheets (4 each of 12 designs) and are so much fun to mix and match. The "love" sentiment is from the new "Hello Life" photopolymer stamp set – it's a super cute font, don't you agree?

I added a little something from the Annual Catalog, just because it's such a favorite of mine… I cased the sketch for this card from a card featured in the "Everyday Occasions Simply Created Card Kit". There are some adorable creations in that kit.

So, find a neat sketch, match up your patterned paper, add some sparkle and create something magical for someone special.

Pals November Blog Hop, Thankful For…

Welcome to the November Pals Blog Hop, we are thankful you stopped by.  This month we are showcasing projects that show our thanks, including both thank you and Thanksgiving themed projects.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Dawn Tidd at Tiddbits From Dawn on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing projects.

Grateful1

Today, I was inspired not only by the Blog Hop theme, but the colors. I really wanted to showcase a project with Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and Lost Lagoon. I came across this color combination while cleaning out my scrap basket… they landed together on my stamping table. So, I sort of created my own "color challenge".

6872362b

I love "collage" cards and thought it was time to use some ribbon. The Lost Lagoon Stitched Satin Ribbon is absolutely beautiful to work with and the Striped Grosgrain Ribbon is so rich in texture; they work beautifully together.

I cropped the leaves with my Autumn Accents Bigz Die and some "Color Me Autumn" Designer Series Paper.

I hope you enjoy today's project as much as I enjoyed putting it all together.

So, empty out your scrap basket, pay attention to where your colors land, create your own "color challenge" and put together something fabulous!

Sweet sorbet2

Simple, clean flowers and pretty colors… all add up to "Spring". It's just around the corner and the Sun is shining brighter and longer.
So, for my Spring Celebration, I decided to work with the colors from the Sweet Sorbet collection in our Sale-A-Bration brochure.  The striped pattern from the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper is perfect with the bold blossoms from the Petal Parade Stamp Set. A little fussy cutting and a bold "thank you" from the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set finishes this picture frame perfect Spring Project.
