Here's a fun masculine birthday card for your special birthday boy. Stampin' Up's "Hooray It's Your Day" stamp set was free for all who attended the 2015 Leadership Conference in Orlando this year. It's a simple set with a single balloon, a small star and some great simple sentiments.
The slice of patterned paper is from "Best Year Ever" Designer Series Paper (a free gift from Stampin' Up! during Sale-A-Bration with a $50.00 product purchase) and my color inspiration for this project.
Coastal Cabana, Soft Suede and Crushed Curry are beautiful together, but I thought the palette needed some pop of color. I went with Cherry Cobbler, a beautiful warm red.
I punched a few gold stars and a tiny circle for a little sparkle and what special birthday boy doesn't deserve a gold star?
With the help of my little ruler and my Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker, I drew some lines across the top of my card layer to help balance the color and the elements.
So, punch a few gold stars, layer a few shapes and create something wonderful.
Before I end this post, I want to thank Anne Marie Hile, a very talented member of the Design Team over at The Paper Players Challenge Blog. Anne Marie chose my card as a "Cut Above" for last week's Spring Theme Challenge. You can see my original post here, and the card below.
It's Thursday and another Pals Paper Arts Challenge. A wonderful sketch from our very own Nicole Watt will give you plenty of inspiration, no doubt….
… but I have to admit that this gave me quite a challenge. My first thought was I needed my sentiment to be large and bold for the center layer. As you can see, that didn't happen.
It didn't because I laid my eyes on the new Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper. That was it…. lots of arrows, straight edges and points. I'm usually not one for a lot of embellishments, but just couldn't resist the beautiful wooden arrow from the Essential Wooden Elements set in the current Occasions Catalog.
There's lots of pattern repetition (an element of good design) in my card and not only was the bold sketch my inspiration, but the Retro Fresh DSP made an impact on my final choice. Love the colors!
Nicole's sketch did what it was supposed to… it challenged me. So, use this sketch to come up with something wonderful to link up with us. Take a look at some of your DSP, stamp sets, embellishments, or all three, and see what will inspire you!

Aren't these the happiest ghosts! Today's post features some really neat punch art. The ghosts are punched with the Owl's body from Stampin' Up's Owl Builder Punch. Clever, quick and easy! These little "owl" ghosts have been around for a while, but not with these smiley faces!
I made a card today, but these little ghosts can be added to goodie bag tags or little gift box tags.
I definitely didn't fussy cut the smiles on these ghosts, but I did punch them with my corner round punch.
I discovered this completely by accident…I was working on another card using my corner round punch and the corner scrap was laying on my card mat. Within a few seconds, I had three of the cutest smiles for my ghosts!
I thought I would use a few Basic Black Candy Dots for the eyes, but couldn't resist using some left over Googly Eyes from Stampin' Up's Halloween celebration last year.
"Happy Halloween" is stamped with Jet Black Staz On ink onto a hand cropped Pumpkin Pie flagged banner.
A little embellishment goes a long way. Some Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon finished off the banner.
Pumpkin Pie Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper makes a beautiful envelope liner which is cut perfectly with my new Envelope Liners Framelits Dies.
Thanks, Ann Marie, for this week's fun challenge.
Also, thank you Jaydee for choosing my card as "A Cut Above" in last week's bright and sassy Color Challenge! It's always fun to play with The Paper Players.
My great niece, Riley, turned three this week and this was my card for her.
Quick & Easy cupcakes in Pretty In Pink! Stampin' Up!'s Cupcake Builder Punch, is the perfect tool for this very easy card. A few quick punches, some Pretty In Pink Sclloped Ribbon, a few layers and a "Sassy" sentiment from the Sassy Salutations stamp set. That's all there is to this adorable birthday wish.
