It’s Time For Tags And a Tutorial And A Technique

It’s that time again. I’m getting tags ready and showcasing the Snowy Wonder Bundle. The Bundle is in the Last Chance section, while supplies last.

When I originally saw the Snowy Wonder Bundle, tags came to mind. I knew it would be a great Bundle for tags, along with cards, and creating my own ephemera for other holiday and winter projects. There are lots of little elements you can stamp and cut with the coordinating dies.

Creating these tags was easy since I cut some of the elements directly frm the Snowy Scenes Designer Series Paper using the coordinating dies.

So, let’s make a tag!

  • I die cut the tag from one of my Tailor Made Tags Dies (they’re no longer available). You can cut a piece of Basic White cardstock 1 3/4″ x 3 3/4″, use a corner round punch to round the edges, and punch a hole in the top.
  • I stamped the house directly to the tag using Poppy Parade ink.
  • I created a “mask” of the house using the stamp and a sticky note. (You can also use Masking Sheets – #155480. I die cut the sticky note house with the coordinating die.
  • Place the mask house over the stamped house on the tag.
  • Stamp the snowflake image (using Pool Party ink), over the masked house, as shown.
  • Remove the mask. The snowflake appears to be behind the house.
  • Stamp the smaller snowflake as shown.
  • I stamped and die cut the two little snow drifts.
  • The Garden Green trees are die cuts.
  • Assemble the elements as shown, and use your Markers or Blends to shade the windows and door.

I chose the first tag in my photo to illustrate the “masking” technique. I masked the house and stamped the snowflake over the mask to give the appearance the snowflake is behind the house. For those who have never tried “masking”, you can download and print the PDF Tutorial by clicking the blue button below. There are additional photos in the Tutorial.

The snowman and penguin tags are quick and easy. I die cut them directly from the Snowy Scenes Designer Series Paper.

The Snowman Tag has no stamping. The trees and snowflakes, along with the snowman, are die cuts.

The Penguin Tag has two stamped snowflakes, and I stamped the snow drifts.

You can quickly and easily put together a bunch of tags using the Snowy Wonder Bundle and the Snowy Scenes Designer Series Paper. They’re both in the Last Chance category on my website under “Specials & Promotions.

Create A Custom Background

I recently held my monthly crafty gathering. We focused on Decorative Masks (stencils), and put together a few tags using the Snowy Wonder Bundle. I’ll have more on the tags early next week. Today, I’m showcasing a quick and easy custom background layer you can complete in just a few minutes.

The ladies loved inking up their Blending Brushes. I always get a burst of inspiration when we meet, and I’m happy to share our evening with you.

The card featured above showcases not only an inked background layer, but one of the tags we put together.

So, let’s make a card.

  • I cut a Thick Basic White cardstock card base 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored it at 5 1/2″.
  • The Pool Party Designer Series Paper layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. It’s a design from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP Stack. (p. 135 in the Annual Catalog).
  • I cut a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Basic White cardstock for the top layer. I used the snowflake pattern Decorative Mask from the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks, Pool Party ink, and a Blending Brush to create the snowflake background for my tag.
  • I cut the snowflake patterned layer 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.
  • I used one of my Tailor Made Tag Dies to cut the tag, and added elements from the Snowy Wonder Designer Series Paper to decorate the tag.
  • The sentiment is stamped and fussy cut.
  • I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to assemble the card, and Dimensionals to attach the tag and sentiment layer.

So, get out your Blending Brush, ink, your favorite Mask, and a piece of cardstock. Create a unique background. Add a few elements and a sentiment, and create a “cool” card you can share with someone special.

Gratitude With Forever Forest

This time of the year brings me thoughts of gratitude. It’s also time for another Clean and Simple card. I combined my ideas, stamped some trees from the Forever Forest Stamp Set (which, by the way, has become a favorite), and used lots of Basic White cardstock.

Wanting to draw attention to the trees, I framed them with the large frame die from the Garden Meadow Dies. I also added “Crystal Detail” to the trees. Some of you may remember Crystal Detail. Here’s my story…

… There’s a “snow” stamp in the Forever Forest Stamp Set. I wanted to add some white embossed falling snow over the stamped trees. (Wouldn’t that have been pretty?) It turned out that my VersaMark stamp pad was a little dry. I looked for my refill and couldn’t find it. Instead, I pulled the Crystal Detail from my refill drawer. That was a nice surprise! It’s been a while since I’ve used it, but I enjoyed scattering this amazing “liquid glitter” on the trees. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the tree branches do sparkle!

I will definitely add the VersaMark Refill to my next order, or maybe just treat myself to a new pad. I’m happy to have made this little discovery. I’m sure I have many more surprises in my craft room. It’s probably time to get into some of the nooks and crannies I have in here to see what other source of amazement I can find.

So, go into that drawer you haven’t opened in a while. There may be a sparkled surprise or two in there for you!
