My Sister-in-law celebrated a birthday yesterday and I made this card for her. Joanne is a very contemporary woman, but loves all things Vintage, and she does love her bling! I thought this would be the perfect card for her.

Okay, I know you know I love patterned paper. For this card, I was again looking through my DSP and came across this pattern in my Tea for Two folder. I realized I never used this side of the paper (all SU Designer Series Paper is printed on both sides), and thought about how I could use it.

I knew I had to stay with some sort of a circle pattern…maybe punch a few circles and see where that leads. Or, add a banner in some other pattern. No… this just wasn't feeling right.

Then I remembered my Designer Builder Brads from the Spring Catalog. I haven't used these brads. When I looked at the brad, it worked well with this paper. The dimension of the circle in both matched beautifully and the pattern repeat worked as well. So, now I had a card base, pretty patterned paper and a brad. Do I go back to punching a few circles? Do I pop the brad onto a tag and offset it on the card?….maybe?

Then I remembered I had some beautiful Two Tone Ribbon from the Spring Catalog. I tried the Basic Gray/Basic Black…and didn't like the look. I wanted that brad to pop! So on went the Pink Pirouette/Rose Red 1 1/4" Two Tone Ribbon, and that was it!

I had myself a Contemporary, Vintage, Quick & Easy masterpiece!

After all this, my Sentiment had to be very understated. "Happy Birthday" is from the From My Heart stamp set.
