So today I sat down to stamp and really didn't know what to do. I looked over some of the new stamp sets I ordered from the 2014-2015 Annual Catalog and "Ray of Sunshine" caught my eye. The stamp set is sort of whimsical with lots of font variety.
I thought the Moonlight Designer Series patterned paper would work well with the mood I wanted to create. The polka dots reminded me of the sentiment font (sounds nutty, I know, but that's what I first thought) and the triangles mimicked the sun's rays. I also love the pops of Lost Lagoon… it's such a beautiful blue.
It was fun to create the sun. The stamp set has a large circle stamp and three different varieties of the sun's rays.
- I stamped a bunch of "rays" in Hello Honey and fussy cut them. It really took very little time.
- Then I stamped the large circle (sun) onto a slightly larger cropped circle.
- The sun's rays are attached to the outer rim of the circle with Mono Liquid Glue. The applicator allows for a thin line and the glue comes out nice and smooth.
- That was it, I cropped a larger circle with my circle framelits and Hello Honey card stock and attached my completed "Sun" to it.
- I hand cropped a long, thin banner to anchor my elements to the center of the card.
Two smaller circles in Lost Lagoon give a nice color balance to the design.
Super-cute, Debbie! So glad to see you stamping again, my friend.
