As those of you who check in regularly probably know, I'm a resident of Central New Jersey, which gives me easy access to New York City.
Yesterday, my daughter, my sister and me went into Manhattan to see "The Christmas Spectacular" at Radio City Music Hall. It was a wonderful show, the music, special effects and coreography were amazing, as always, and we had lunch at the Cafe right on the famous Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink. If this doesn't get the holiday spirit moving in you, nothing will.
So, I thought I would get yet another Christmas card posted and, of course, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was my inspiration. Oh, I know, my tree doesn't look anything like the one at Rockefeller Center, but it's cute… don't you agree?
Here's the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree… now keep in mind the building in the background is the main building at Rockefeller Center Plaza and the tree hits the the eighth floor of the building… this year's tree is 85' tall. It's hard to imagine it's size in the picture, but when you see the building behind the tree, it puts it in perspective… it's large and beautiful and full of glittering lights.
… and you can see the famous guilded sculpture of Prometheus just below the tree and above the ice skating rink. Prometheus was a Greek Titan god who was believed to have brought fire to humankind. Prometheus is a famous New York City sculpture. It was a fun day.
So, grab some framelits, patterned paper, your favorite "tree", and create something wonderful.
Love your sweet card AND the pic of the Rockefeller Center tree! My sister & I have lived in Ohio most of our lives, but we were born in NYC. We went there last week, as part of a tour group, especially to see “THE” tree. Had a wonderful reunion dinner with our first cousins & soaked up the city. Thanks for the reminder.
Georgette, thank you for your comment. It was great to be in the City again and to me, there’s no place like New York City at Christmastime. Hope your Christmas is a happy one and the New Year brings you all the joys you could imagine!
