Today’s poost is all about letting the paper do the work when creating a card design. I’ve always enjoyed mixing patterns. A great way to mix patterned paper to create a unique design is to follow a sketch. There are many sketch designs on social media. Find one you like and fill in the blanks with your favorite patterns. It’s like putting the puzzle pieces together to create a picture!

I’m showcasing the Them Bones Designer Series Paper in my card. The paper has some adorable spooky designs on one side and more generic patterns on the other. Of course, the spooky designs are perfect for your Halloween projects, and you can use the generic patterns for just about anything. Below are the patterns from Them Bones. Note that there are two 12″ x 12″ “cut-apart” sheets that are perfect for card fronts.

Today’s Card Parts & Pieces

• I used a Basic Black cardstock card base cut 4 1/4″ x 11″, and scored at 5 1/2″.
• The bat design patterned paper layer on the card front is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.
• I cut the houndstooth patterned paper banner 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″, and flagged the bottom.
• The two Basic Black cardstock strips are 1″ x 4 1/2″, and 1″ x 4″. I hand cut the bottom.
• The Basic Black cardstock citcle and the sentiment circle are die cuts using the new Derckled Citcles Dies. These Dies are a must for your paper crafting staples. You’ll use them time and again.
• I added a few black Classic Matte Dots (Annual Catalog) to embellish.

This card is quick and easy to put together, and a great design to use with your favotire patterned paper.
