Hi!  It’s Sunday and time for the Paper Players Blog Challenge.  Anne Marie kicks off the week with a Sketch Challenge.

Sketch Challenges are my favorite because they give you a guideline, but you also get creative freedom.  You can follow the sketch , which is what I did today, or you can take some artistic license and tweak it a little.

Let’s talk about my project.  Once again, I didn’t end where I started.  In fact, I went in an entirely different direction about mid way through this card design.  Originally, I was going to do something with the bumblebees from the Dandy Wishes DSP.  Once I had my layers in place and color palette set up, the bumblebees just didn’t work for me, so I re-wrote my script.

The card design went from somewhat subtle to bold and contemporary. I realized my Playful Alphabet Dies would work perfectly with my large circle focal point.  The flower medallion dies from the Dandy Wishes dies became part of my card, along with a bold pop of pink with Magenta Madness cardstock.

I enjoyed creating this fun, bright card.  Below are the dimensions for the layers.  If you decide to give it a try, I hope you enjoy your unique creative process.

• Cut a standard A-2 top fold card base at 11″ x 5 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″,  My card base is Misty Moonlight.
• The Basic White card layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″.
• Each vertical striped pattern paper layer is 1″ x 4 1/2″.
• The Bumblebee cardstock layers under each patterned paper layer is 1 1/8″ x 4 5/8″.
• Die cut the largest stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies (which, by the way are retiring).
• The two thin, horizontal strips of Bumblebee cardstock are 4 1/4″ x 1/4″.

Just a note:  I mentioned above that the Stitched Shapes Dies are retiring.  I intend to continue to use them since they’ve become such a staple for me.  If you don’t already have them, you might want to take a look and think about adding them to your card making supplies.  They’re a good investment.  You can click here for more details on the dies.
