Happy Wednesday and Happy Mojo Monday! Here's the latest Sketch Challenge over at the Mojo Monday blog. Julee wanted to have some fun this week with a "Tall and Skinny" challenge. So, for the almost 20 years that I've been creating cards, this is my very first "Tall and Skinny"!

Okay, from the beginning…

  • Once I had the sketch, I went to my Designer Series Paper. The Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy polka dots from "Flowerpot" was the one, and Night of Navy would be my card base. I happen to love the blue and yellow color combination and I know I've said that before.
  • So now for the size. I played around with a few sizes until I got to the one that would showcase the oval center crop. The card base measures 6" X 7". Folded in half, the card is 3 1/2" X 6"… a nice 3 1/2" surface for my layers and oval.
  • The polka dot layer is 1 1/2" X 5 3/4" and the solid layer is 2" X 5 3/4".
  • The center frame is 3" X 5 1/4".
  • I used my Stampin' Write Markers to ink up my Wildflower stamp, fussy cut the hummingbird and attach him with a Stampin' Dimensional.

  • The sentiment I chose is from "Truly Grateful" and stamped in Night of Navy.
  • A few colored sequins was all the embellishment this card needed.

I really did have a lot of fun with my first "Tall and Skinny" …and I'm thankful for Julee's great sketch and for the creative counsel of my very talented friend, Brian King!

So, grab some markers, sequins and your favorite patterned paper… make a few cuts and a crop and create something tall, skinny and beautiful.
