Happy Sunday! The Paper Players have another challenge for us this week. It’s a Theme Challenge hosted by our very talented Ann. She chose Signs of Summer.
There’s so much I think of when Summer is near. Ann’s challenge banner pretty much covers the fun and adventure Summer brings.
I don’t live far from our beautiful New Jersey beaches. At any given time from May through October, my beach chair is in my car. Mostly on a whim, I’ll get in the car, head to the beach, take a walk or sit for a while then head home. A walk near the salt water is refreshing to me.
Today’s card is an image of the sailboats I see and the sea gulls flying in the background. It’s a true sign Summer is with us.
I kept this card simple. The Sailing Home stamp set helped me create my sailing scene. I used a blender pen and ink to add color to the sailboat. The matching die from the Smooth Sailing Dies made it easy to cut the sailboat image and attach it with Dimensionals. I sponged a little So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo ink in the background to create a light horizon. The seagulls are stamped with Misty Moonlight ink.
The sentiment is perfect for graduates, especially during this time of year. The sailboat and sentiment are all about the adventure that awaits us all!
So, pull out your favorite summer themed image, add a beach chair, sailboat or popsicle and join us over at the Paper Players.
…the only limitation is your imagination!

Clean, simple and definitely a Sign of Summer, Debbie! The sentiment is so inspiring for those embarking on a new phase in their life. Thank you for creating a perfect card for my challenge. Have a wonderful week!
Very nice relaxing card. How did you make your water scene on the bottom of your card?
Hi Sherry, thank you! The water is a stamp from SU High Tide stamp set. I believe it was around about 2 years ago.
This is lovely, Debbie! I love the beach (although we’re Delaware beach-lovers) and your sailboat scene would appeal to my sailboat-loving hubby! Nicely done! Stay cool today!
Such a pretty summer-themed card Debbie! I love your faint sunset and your awesome greeting! I am five miles from the gulf and you are welcome anytime! Have a wonderful week!
I just love the serene summer scene you created Debs – the subtle colour to the sky balances those blues perfectly. The whole scene makes me want to put my deck chair in the car and hop on down to the beach too – too bad I live too far away, your card will have to do. I love it!
I’ve got to admit I’m a bit jealous of you being able to pop over to the beach for a walk! I’m too far from that but it’s still one of my most favorite places to be! Your card is lovely; especially the ‘just right’ colored sky. It’s the perfect background for your sailboat! Hope you’re having a great week!
Love your card and you are right that sentiment is perfect for the graduates this time of year. Can I ask how you did the water. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Joann. Thank you for your kind words. The water is a stamp from SU High Tide stamp set. It was Round about 2 years ago.
How fabulous that you live close enough to the beach to be able to keep a deck chair in your car and just go for a walk – or a sit – anytime. I’m so jealous. Your use of this set really does remind me of those lazy summer days of sailing. Wonderful card

Debbie, this is so amazing! I love the sentiment and the beautiful scene you created. Wish I was on that sailboat! SO fabulous that you live near the shore! That would be so wonderful! I love to walk on the beach! Have a great weekend, My Friend!
