Hello friends! Happy New Year!
There’s a lot going on over at Stampin’ Up! this week. More details are at the end of this post.
Here’s a Sneak Peek at a new Product Suite from Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2022 Mini Catalog. The Sweet Conversations Product Suite has everything you need to create Valentine’s Day projects and more. I can’t show you pictures of the products just yet, but I can give you a close look at some of the fabulous Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper and Sweet Hearts Dies. The Sweet Conversations Suite will be available Wednesday, January 4th with the launch of the new January-June 2022 Mini Catalog.
The Making of a Collage Card
A favorite card design of mine is a collage card. They’re fun to create and do take a little time but you can truly kick your creativity into high gear mixing patterns and elements. Creating collage cards is also a fun way for me to get to know what new products can do and how they work together.
All you need is a card base, some fabulous patterned paper, what I refer to as a “grounding frame”, die cut elements or an ephemera pack.
Here’s How This Came Together
- I started with a standard top fold A-2 Basic White card base.
- I added a Highland Heather cardstock layer that measures 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.
- Knowing I was going to be die cutting elements and a grounding frame, I kept the background pattern subtle.
- I cut a frame with my Layering Squares Framelits and the Highland Heather and Basic White striped paper. The pattern is a vertical stripe. To get the diagonal stripe for my frame, I simply placed my frame diagonally on the vertical pattern stripes.
- The three large hearts are die cuts from the Sweet Heart Dies that match the patterns in one of the patterned paper designs. Easy and quick!
- The sentiment is stamped with Highland Heather ink onto a Basic White strip. I added a Petal Pink layer to the sentiment strip for a bit of color balance.
- I started arranging the die cut elements around the frame, but realized the frame wasn’t solid enough. A quick punched 2 1/4″ circle worked nicely to give the elements a more solid base.
- If you take a look at the photo, imagine the large punched circle removed. The elements I added would be “hanging in air” inside the frame.
- That shimmery little jewel is one of the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels. Love them!
Do you love Real Red and Highland Heather for your Valentine’s Day projects? Check back in tomorrow. I’ll use the same basic design as today, but the card has a completely different look.
So, pull out a favorite patterned paper, add a frame, die cut a bunch of elements, arrange and attach! That’s all there is to it. Remember…
…the only limitation is your imagination!
