It’s Sunday and we’re having another fun challenge over at the Paper Players. Laurie has a very cool Sketch Challenge for us this week. Sketch Challenges are my favorite and this one leaves the door open to take a leap and “express your creativity”!
In my last post I stamped some balloons from the Penguin Place stamp set. I thought those balloons were so realistic so I stamped two more today. My card showcases both the Penguin Place stamp set and the adorable Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper. This patterned paper pack is FREE with a $50.00 product purchase from any of the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs.
Here’s how this card comes together:
- Cut an A-2 top fold card base 11″ x 4 1/4″ and score at 5 1/2″. I used Thick Basic White cardstock.
- The Misty Moonlight diagonal striped layer is cut 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and attached directly to the front card base.
- Tip: You can cut the patterned paper card layer slightly larger. After attaching it to the card base, trim the excess from the backside. You’ll get a nice, even cut for your cardbase.
- The Basic White cardstock layer is 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″.
- The Soft Succulent offset cardstock layer is 3 1/2″ x 2 5/8″.
- The polka dot patterned paper layer is 3 3/8″ x 2 1/2″.
- I fussy cut the penguin and fox from the DSP.
- I stamped the balloons with Fresh Freesia and Misty Moonlight ink and fussy cut them.
- Before I attached the balloons and cool friends with Dimensionals, I stamped the balloon strings with Basic Black ink. I used my Stamparatus for this step. It made it easier to align the balloon strings to the balloons and the cool friends hands.
- The sentiment layer is 2 3/4″ x 1/2″.
I enjoyed using the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper to create this card. It’s such a fun paper pack. I think my “cool friends” are having fun with the balloons/
So, find that special patterned paper pack, cut some layers, add a “cool” sentiment and create something fun to link up with us over at the Paper Payers. We always enjoy seeing your projects.
…the only limitation is your imagination!

Oh my gosh, these little friends are as cute as can be! This is a great sketch to highlight them and these papers!
Love that in the paper world foxes and penguins can be best of friends. Love the mix of papers to enhance the layout this week. Debbie, This card is just darling!
I really like how you tilted the DSP layers and kept your cuties more straight! Great fussy cutting by the way! I had to stop and think if there were dies for these lol! Hope you’re having a fantastic week!
I love this Debbie! I sat and cut out a whole bunch of these cuties but haven’t used them all yet, so might just have to CASE your card!! The paper patterns you’ve chosen work perfect together and your penguin and fox pair appear to be having a ball! Great card this week!
