Hello and a very happy Sunday!

Welcome to the Paper Players Blog Challenge!  Our fabulous Laurie has a Clean & Simple Happy Birthday Challenge for us this week.  Remember the rules for Clean & Simple cards – lots of white space (no pattern), minimal layers and little or no embellishments.

The pretty lily image is in Stampin’ Up!’s Posted For You stamp set.  This stamp set is on the Last Chance List. The Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch, which I used to layer the three lilies is staying with us.  It’s in the upcoming Annual Catalog.

Let’s talk about how this card came together:

  • I cut a standard A-2 Thick Basic White card base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.
  • Next, I cut a basic white card layer 4″ x 5 1/4″ and scored it 1/4″ on all sides.
  • I stamped three lily images with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Basic White cardstock.
  • I used my Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen to add color to the flowers.
  • An artist I am not, but this coloring technique was easy!
  • I added a line of color next to each image line and easily spread the color with my Blender Pen.
  • My finished images had a subtle watercolor look.
  • Then, I punched each lily and attached the images to the card layer.
  • I stamped “Happy Birthday” from the Posted For You stamp set with Black Memento Ink.

Clean, simple and very easy to complete. I enjoyed putting this one together.

So, pull out a pretty flower from your stash, add a little color, a sentiment and a scored layer and create something clean and simple.

…the only limitation is your imagination!
