Sneak Peek, PPA & Hello Life!

Stacked with love2

It's the little things that mean a lot… Inspired by the Pals Paper Arts latest Sketch Challenge, what a simple and quick project this was to put together.

6a00e54f95df92883401b7c7210753970b-500wi[1]Once again, I let the beautiful patterned paper do all the work and what a wonderful mix of colors and patterns in the new Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack.

I haven't said much about the upcoming Occasions Catalog and the new Sale-A-Bration products, and am charging right in with a Sneak Peek, but I'm not kidding, the upcoming Occasions Catalog is absolutely the best I've ever seen and the Sale-A-Bration products are stunning! You'll want to own just about everything!

The "Stacked With Love" DSP Stack features four each of twelve designs and is just the perfect size (4 1/2" X 6 1/2") for card fronts or backgrounds. I've always beeen a fan of the DSP stacks. They're smaller and easier to crop (I think), and you can easily flip through the patterns to make your choices.

Stacked with love1

I paired "Stacked With Love" with the "Hello Life" stamp set… part of a new Project Kit … and in the new Occasions Catalog which launches on January 6th along with the 2015 Sale-A-Bration products.

What do you think of the little heart sequins? Stampin' Up! did it again… it's all about matching up this with that… these sequins are part of the 2013 – 2015 In-Color Sequin Assortment on page 208 in the Annual Catalog… perfect with the patterned paper.

So, once again, grab some patterned paper, add a sequin or three and create something wonderful.

The Best Love Story!

Best Love Story 1

Once again, I'm playing with The Paper Players. Sandy came up with a One Layer Valentine for this week's Challenge theme. These one layer cards really do challenge me. Anyway, this one's on its way over to The Paper Players.

Pp179[1]

I really enjoyed "masking" for this card. Haven't done that in quite a while.

  • Just stamp the sentiment onto a sticky note and fussy cut around the edges;
  • Then stamp the sentiment onto your card base and place the sticky note cut image over your card base image matching it exactly;
  • Stamp the heart image over the sticky note image;
  • Remove the sticky note sentiment from the card;
  • The sticky note protected the card image and it looks like the image is embedded into the heart.
  • Pop on a Rhinestone Basic Jewel for some balance and you're done.
  • Easy, fun and a pretty result!

I wanted to give this card serene simplicity. The sentiment says it all so there's not much else to talk about.

So, pull out your stamps and some sticky notes and "mask" something wonderful!

Oh… on Saturday, I received some great news from The Paper Players. My card design for LeAnne's Color Challenge was chosen "A Cut Above". Thank you, Jaydee, for choosing my card. It's always fun to play with you all.

A Happy Valentine for PPA

Love you1

It's been a little while since I last posted and my apologies for that. I had some recent computer issues that needed attention… all fixed now.

So, here's to another pretty Color Challenge from the Pals Paper Arts. This week, it's Real Red, Soft Sky and Whisper White… perfect for another Valentine!

PPA187 Jan 9

My inspiration for the off-set layers in my card came from Jen Shults. Here's how I did it.

  • Cut a standard A-2 size card base using Real Red card stock.
  • The Whisper White layer is simply a rectangle cut 4 1/4" X 4 7/8". Just place the Whisper White layer onto the Real Red base off-center and cut the layer from behind.
  • Follow the same method using the Soft Sky Polka Dot DSP from the Subtles Collection DSP Stack. The dimensions of the Soft Sky rectangle are 4" X 4 3/8".
  • I hand cropped a few banners and stamped my "Love You" sentiment in Real Red.
  • I cropped the Real Red heart using the Hearts A Flutter Framelits.

This color combination is bright and fun. The Real Red gives the Soft Sky such a vibrant backdrop, and this one sure is Clean and Simple and Quick and Easy.

So, pull out your card stock, crop some banners and create something beautiful to link up with us over at the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge. We love to see your projects.

Until tomorrow…happy stampin!

Three Pretty Hearts

Love you2

Happy Saturday!

With Stampin' Up!'s soon to launch Spring Catalog and Sale-A-Bration in it's wake, there'll be lots of new coming soon.  When the current 2013-2014 Catalog came out this past Summer, I ordered "Yippee Skippee", one of my favorite sentiment stamp sets. The sentiments themselves and the variety of fonts make the set just plain happy and sure to make you smile.

Over the past few days, I made a few special cards to send out and saw "Yippee Skippee". I've been waiting to use this stamp.

Here's my first Valentine for 2014!

The Crumb Cake card base is a warm neutral, so I had to keep my color scheme warm. Cherry Cobbler and Bermuda Bay are a great "primary" color duo and have the same color saturation. They really pop against the neutral base. A little swatch of 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon is natural and casual.

I created the heart frames with the Hearts Collection Framelits and remembered the all important "Rule of Thirds"… three hearts!!!

So grab some framelits and your favorite stamp set and create something from the heart!

IMG_0198

I want to wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day.

I wish you lots of love and happiness!

By the time you see this post my family will have received their special Valentine note card from me.  Thought I would share a sample today.

Each of the cards I made is different and I wrote each a special Valentine message to save and treasure.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for another new card design.
