It’s Monday and time to begin a new week with The Paper Players Challenge Blog! Claire chose Silver Black and White for her Color Challenge this week.
What a striking and classic color combination! I chose to go with a Clean and Simple “thinking of you” card because I always seem to need them. Once I saw Claire wanted us to use black and white, I immediately thought of Stampin’ Up!’s new Designer Series Paper called True Love. It’s part of the Love You Always Suite coming in the new January – June Mini Catalog.
My card today is simple but I was able to do a little fussy cutting. I cut the flower image on my card directly from a swatch of the Designer Series Paper. My biggest decision while making this card was whether to use a black card base with a white layer or a white card base with a black layer. I thought the Whisper White card base with a Basic Black layer was a more striking background for the flower. The Basic Black layer is attached to a silver and white dotted pattern paper from the Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP. The silver layer is subtle, but I wanted to keep all the attention on the flower image.
I embossed one of my favorite sentiments from the Love of Leaves stamp set. It’s always so nice to let someone know you’re thinking of them and there’s no better way then with a penned note. I love to splatter ink. I pulled out my newly discovered splatter stamp from the Painted Poppies stamp set and did just a little bit of splatter with White Craft ink. Another decision I had to make was whether to use rhinestones for a little sparkle, or silver metallic pearls for a more subtle look. As you can see, I decided to go with the sparkle. It is the holiday season and we all should share a little sparkle.
So, grab a white card base, fussy cut a flower, add a little splatter and create something that’s sure to sparkle!
…the only limitation is your imagination!
