Today, when I checked in on The Paper Players Challenge, I saw that Sandy posted a Clean and Simple Spring theme. I created this card to celebrate Spring and wanted to feature it in today’s Simple Sunday Sampler blog post. I thought it would be perfect for the Challenge also.
A few days ago, I noticed a few birds in my yard beginning the work on their nest. As I watched them carry small twigs to the tree, I thought that soon enough their little ones will be popping their heads just above the nest while their mother feeds them. So, I titled this card “Two New Wishes”. Isn’t this a nice way to celebrate Spring? Year after year, the birds make my weeping cherry tree their home and it seems this year is no exception.
I chose Night of Navy because it’s so classic and peaceful… I just love those blues! Of course, the silhouette stamped image is simple and serene, as well. It’s from the “World of Dreams” stamp set.
The silhouette stamp image is so detailed that I wanted to keep the card clean and simple to emphasize the image. By design, I chose a sentiment that would blend with the image so the image would remain the focal point. The “wishes” sentiment is from “Endless Birthday Wishes”.
So, I’m watching the nest take form and soon enough, I’ll know when the “little ones” arrive.
This past Saturday, I hosted a Bridal Shower for my daughter, Alison. Along with picking a venue and planning the menu, I added a theme. Family and friends came together to wish Alison "Bubbles of Happiness".
There were "bubble" balloons coming out of champagne buckets (including a bottle of champagne, of course), and we toasted our bride-to-be with champagne in pretty glass flutes. The planning was a fun experience for me, and the outcome was just what I wanted…a special memory for Alison.
A Stampin' Up! Bridal Shower for sure. The invitations were filled with Rhinestone Basic Jewels as were the favor tags.
The champagne flutes from Embellished Events were a hit stamped with Whisper White Craft ink on brushed silver cardstock, and the Petite Purse in Brushed Silver was my seating place card. Inside the purse was a raffle ticket for some games we played. This little purse was the star of the show!
I even used retired white organdy ribbon from Stampin' Up! long ago.
After the party was over, I received e-mails and telephone calls with compliments on the beautiful handmade details. My theme was original and inspired by one of my most used and versatile stamp sets, Embellished Events. I love the champagne flute included in that set, so it was fitting that I made it part of an important and happy occasion.
