Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals Trick-Or-Treat Blog Hop!

Trick-or-Treat! It’s time for some fun and festive crafting with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals! You’ve probably hopped over from Kerry Willard Bray‘s Blog at Stampgoodness.  I’m stop number 8 on the Pals Hop and I’m glad you hopped in! I’ll help you “hop along” from blog to blog where you’ll find great ideas for Stampin’ Up! Halloween projects along with some tricks and treats along the way! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you’ll be back on track.These Googlies are off Trick-Or-Treating under the Harvest Moon. There are lots of bats and spiders with them as they go through the next picket fence.

  • The Ghoulish Googlies Bundle from the Stampin’ Up! new Holiday Catalog includes the stamps and Googly Eyes;
  • The tree branch in the Harvest Moon is from the Owl Occasions stamp set;
  • Very Vanilla, Basic Black and Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Series Paper;
  • Jet Black Staz On and Lucky Limeade ink pads;
  • Stampin Dimensionals.

You’ve been TRICKED! Lucky you! I’m sharing a great trick that you can use on your next project.

If you look closely at the Harvest Moon in my project, you’ll notice a great shading technique called “Resist Embossing”.  It lets you preserve the color of the background paper to incorporate it into the design using a stamped image.

Here’s the trick…

  • Stamp your image with Versa Mark Ink onto your cardstock.
  • Using Clear Embossing Powder, heat emboss your image.  Your image will be clear and shiny.
  • Using a tissue, rub the end of a Watercolor Crayon (it’s soft) with the tissue and transfer the color onto your image moving outward onto the cardstock.  The color won’t stick to your image, but will on the cardstock.
  • Continue around your image and move out onto the cardstock with as much or as little color as you want.  You can blend more than one color as I did here.  A Sponge Dauber works well also.  Creates a great “shadow” effect.  In this card, I think it makes the night sky kind of “spooky”!

For the Harvest Moon, I used Whisper White, More Mustard and Cajun Craze.

Now hop along for more tricks and treats and some spooky ideas from Naki Rager at …notes from Naki, stop number 9 on the Pals Trick-or-Treat Blog Hop! Thanks for “hopping” by!

They’re Not Really Ghoulish!

Ghoulish Googlies! 001Just too cute!  They really put a smile on my face.  I began getting these ready for the special Trick or Treaters in my neighborhood and thought I would use one in my blog post, but as I was stamping the tags, I couldn’t resist putting all three Googlies together for the picture.  I ran the glassine bags through my Big Shot with a “bubbles” folder, stamped the tags with the Googlies, added some googly eyes and bling, attached the tags to the bags with bakers twine, and…complete!

Just a little tip:  To get your bakers twine bow evenly at the front of the bag, close the bag and punch two holes about 1/4″ apart at the top centre of the bag. Thread each end of the bakers twine through each hole –  both ends will be at the front of the bag – thread one end of the twine through the pre-cut hole in the tag and tie your bow…easy, quick and your bow lays nicely at the front of the bag. I used Stampin’ Up!’s 1/16″ hand held circle punch…perfect!

This is the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit from Stampin’ UP!, and I think this is probably one of the best values in the Holiday Catalog.  The “Bundle” includes tags, bags, bakers twine, googly eyes and the 6 piece stamp set.  All you need is your goodies and you’re set. You can get the details at my Stampin’ Up website  http://debbiecrowley@stampinup.net.

Hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by and,

Express your Creativity!

Debbie

A Scary Spider!

A Scary Spider!He’s not scary, I think he’s really cute!  He’s looking for his web and I’m sure he’ll find it.

I really liked the Pals Paper Arts Design Challenge #143 and used that template for this card.  It’s such a simple and versatile design, and the card truly is “Quick and Easy”.  I enjoyed putting it together and, of course ideas are already popping in for some “Quick and Easy” Fall and Holiday cards….they’ll be coming soon.

Stampin’ Up! cardstock used is Whisper White and Pumpkin Pie, the flagged end banners are Designer Series Paper Howlstooth and Scaringbone, Brights Collection Stack, and 2011-2012 In Color Stack.  The Scary Spider Web medallion is from the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit.   This Kit is in the Holiday Catalog bundled with the Googly Ghouls Stamp Set…just can’t beat the value.  I popped on some googly eyes and added a bubble circle background.  Quick and Easy! Remember …

… the only limitation is your imagination!
