Bats About You

Halloween Hello

Halloween will be here before you know it, so I thought I would pull out my Halloween Hello stamp set once again and showcase another "Happy Halloween" card.

This one's so simple…I spent a little time fussy cutting the bats (these bats have the cutest little feet!!), but other than that, you can assemble this card very quickly.

  • My standard A-2 card base is Basic Black;
  • The chevron layer is 4" X 5 1/4" and I used Modern Medley DSP;
  • The polka dot flagged banner is 5" X 2" from Etcetera DSP, and hand cropped at the bottom with a 1" square punch;
  • The Calypso Coral tag was cropped with the large Chalk Talk Framelit;
  • All of my stamping was done with Jet Black Staz On ink;
  • For a little interest I added a ribbon bow with 1/4" Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today, and lots of Halloween Hellos to you!

Candy For 100 Freshly Made Sketches

IMG_1200

This is a more simple version of a Hallowen card I showcased a few posts ago. I streamlined this card for the Freshly Made Sketches 100th Sketch Challenge week.

I always check in on Freshly Made Sketches and have joined their challenges in the past. Definitely didn't want to miss this one!

FMS1[1]

Congratulations to Cindy and the entire past and present Design Team on 100 Freshly Made Sketches that have inspired many of us.

My card today is Clean & Simple and really a very "happy" Halloween card. With the exception of just a tiny bit of fussy cutting on that cute wrapped piece of candy, this card is simple and quick.

Trick or Treat, It’s The Paper Players!

IMG_1106

It's Sunday, the start of a new week and a new Paper Players Challenge. This one's a Clean and Simple One Layer Card.

Pp159[1]

I was thinking about what to create and realized I don't often make one layer cards. This was a real challenge for me. Well, thank you, Ann Schach…it's good to get a little push now and again!

Masking works well for me on one layer cards. The technique gives some dimension without a second layer or stampin' dimensionals, and it's easy and fun.

Here's a quick "Masking" tutorial:

  • In this project, I masked the "Trick or Treat" sentiment stamp.
  • Stamp the image onto a sticky note as close to the sticky top as possible.
  • Then fussy cut the image keeping your cutting line just inside the outside of the image. (Hope this makes sense to you)….just inside the outside.
  • Now stamp the same image onto your card.
  • Place your sticky note image over your stamped image as precisely as you can (the sticky area should be enough to hold your image in place.
  • Stamp the Gorgeous Grunge banner image over the sticky note stamped image directly onto your card.
  • Lift the sticky note image and you have your masked image.
  • In this card, the black and white banner looks like it's behind the sentiment stamp.
  • I repeated this for the Old Olive Gorgeous Grunge banner.

After I masked in a few Gorgeous Grunge banners, I added some buttons tied with Whisper White Baker's Twine. My one layer card was complete! Clean, Simple and Quick!

The buttons are from last year's SU catalog. They were the perfect size for my Gorgeous Grunge banners. Love those Halloween colors, too!

Halloween Hello for Mojo Monday!

IMG_1048

It's Mojo Monday! What a great sketch and a great way to get my stampin' Mojo going again.

ZMojo305Sketch[1]

When I saw this sketch, I was immediately drawn to Stampin' Up"s Modern Medley Designer Series Paper. At that point, I didn't know my very first Halloween card for 2013 would be born, but it was and I hope you like it.

The pretty Calypso Coral polka dot paper is part of the Etcetera suite, and the Halloween Hello stamp set is just adorable. A definite "must have"!

I love to fussy cut and the "happy" wrapped candies were the perfect embellishment. Nothing more needed for this one. The stamped sentiments are also from the Happy Halloween stamp set.

I'm glad to be getting my fingers inky again….

This past week, I've taken a little break from stamping and posting to my blog to spend my time with my daughter who was married on Friday. We finished some last minute details for the ceremony and celebration, and everything was beautiful and went off without a wrinkle. My husband and I are so happy and wish them every blessing and all the goodness life has to offer.

Thanks for always stopping by my blog.

Trick-Or-Treat Sour Cream Container Tutorial

Sour Cream Container
They are the cutest surprises to have in a basket when your Trick-Or-Treaters come to call…quick, easy and fun!  We call them "Sour Cream Containers", but they're not filled with sour cream, of course….they're filled with candy or a small surprise!

I saw this tutorial on Brian King's blog, and I thought it would be fun to share it here with you.

1.    Trim a piece of Designer Series Paper to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2".  Roll the paper into a tube before getting started…warms the paper up a bit before the finale!

2.    Position the paper with the longer sides at the top and bottom facing you.  Add adhesive to the entire left hand side  -  to the top portion of the paper, from the left side to about the center of the paper, and to the bottom…centered at the bottom…about 2.5 inches.  (If you look closely, you can see the adhesive on the edges of the paper).

3.    Roll the paper into a tube lining up your edges along the way.

4.    Pinch one end of the tube, securing it tightly.

5.    Add your candy or a little surprise gift (as Brian says…"it's probably not a good idea to fill your tube with sour cream…").

6.    Now pinch the other end shut in the opposite direction of (or perpendicular to) the original pinch!

7.    Embellish with some colorful tags and ribbons, place in a basket, and your ready to answer the door!  Great little Halloween Party Favors, or use as Halloween Table Place Cards "…the only limitation is your imagination…!"
