The quilted patchwork star is so very beautiful…the pattern has been a long-time favorite in the world of quilting for as far as I can remember, but I never saw this particular design done on a card until I was wandering around on Pinterest and saw my inspiration from a card created by Diane Noble.
This is all done with a 1" square punch, matted, embossed and mounted onto a standard 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" card base. I used Island Indigo and Very Vanilla card stock, and the "Festival of Prints" Designer Series Paper Stack.
The "Thinking Of You" stamp is from the "Embellished Events" stamp set….this stamp set has more uses than you can imagine! I find myself using it over and over again. Hopefully, Stampin' Up! will keep in around for a while. It really is versatile.
Supplies used from Stampin' Up! are:
- Embellished Events Stamp Set p. 40, #126495 (wood mount) and #126497 (clear mount);
- Very Vanilla p. 156 #101650, and Island Indigo p. 152 #122923 card stock;
- Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack, p. 20 #126904 in the Holiday Catalog;
- Tempting Turquoise Brights Glimmer Brad, p. 174 #121006.

If you love punch art, you will definitely enjoy creating this card. Easy to put together, and the sky's the limit with making it your own! My Owl Friend has "Stars In His Eyes" peeking out from behind the tree…Love his Santa Hat! I wonder who he's watching!
Here's the recipe:
- This is a standard 5 1/2" X 4 l/4" note card cut from Cherry Cobbler card stock;
- The Very Vanilla mat is 5 1/4" X 4";
- The Tree is cut from a 3" square of "Be of Good Cheer" Designer Series Paper.
Cutting the perfect triangle is very easy:
- On the wrong side of the 3" square, make a small pencil mark at 1 1/2" from left edge;
- With your paper trimmer, cut diagnally from the 1 1/2" mark at the top down and out to the right bottom corner. See photo below:
- Cut diagnally again from the top center downward to the left corner. See picture below:
- You now have the perfect triangle.
- The tree base is a 1" square (punch) tucked under the tree bottom;
- The star on the tree is from the Boho Blossom Punch;
- The ornaments on the tree are the owl's eyes from the Owl Builder Punch;
- The Owl is from the Own Builder Punch;
- The Owl's hat is from the 'Owl Occasions' Stamp Set, stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink, and hand cropped.
- "Merry Christmas" is from the 'Owl Occasions' Stamp Set.
