PPA 199 - Friends

Pretty colors and a flower are surely a great way to celebrate Spring and another Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge. This week's colors are Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron. Happy!

PPA199 April 10

A few cropped circles and banners, a pretty flower, and some patterned paper from the Subtles Collection Designer Series Paper Stack combined to complete my card. A few Calypso Coral buttons added the finishing touch.

This was Quick and Easy and lots of fun, so pull out your framelits and pretty patterned paper and create something beautiful to link up with us Pals. We always love to see your projects.

Simply Sketched and Simply Pretty!

Happy2

Well, it's been a while since I sat down to write a post… have to admit, it feels good. There's been so much going on over at Stampin' Up!, I have to give myself some time to catch up, but for now I'll talk about today's card.

I created this one a few weeks ago for a Pals Color Challenge and never posted it. My first reaction to the colors, (Blushing Bride, Rose Red and Basic Gray), wasn't very enthusiastic until I put them together. Blushing Bride and Basic Gray are a perfect pair and the Rose Red just pops against the softness of Blushing Bride.

The flower is from one of my favorite stamp sets, "Simply Sketched", a Hostess Set from the 2013-2014 Catalog.

Since my card design was so simple, I added some dimension by fussy cutting the flower and using a few Stampin' Dimensionals.

The "Happy" sentiment stamp is from "Happy Watercolor" in the new Occasions Catalog along with the background stamp (which I stamped off once with Rose Red ink).  In no time at all, I had a "Simply Sketched" flower and a Simply Pretty card to send to someone special.

So, pull out some stamps and ink and create something wonderful… add a little fussy cutting just for fun.

Stampin' Up! has such a beautiful product line….that's why I chose to become a Demonstrator. It's a great gig if you love paper crafting as I do.

I didn't want to make this post a commercial for Stampin' Up!, but it seems to be going that way, so…take some time to check out all Stampin' Up! makes available to their demonstrators. (I've already ordered from the upcoming Holiday Catalog…yep, only Demonstrators can do it early, and what surprises are in store for this Stampin' Holiday Season…all I can say is…Beautiful, New, Trendy and Fun!)

Becoming a Demonstrator is detailed in the tab above, or you can click here. And, it's really true…there is absolutely no obligation whatsoever once you purchase your $99.00 Starter Kit, plus all the extra goodies you'll get.

Okay, now for the reason I chose this card to showcase today….It's the Designer Series Paper. I'm such a fan of patterned paper, and the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper is pretty, fun and happy.

I cropped all the banners from Gingham Garden with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits. So easy. In fact, this card was complete in very little time. Just crop, add a few Designer Basic Pearls, stamp a bold sentiment ("Happy Day" is from the "Happy Day" stamp set), and you've got a pretty card. I would love to receive this card from someone, wouldn't you?

I love to create pretty things with pretty things, and I so enjoy sharing my pretty things with others. Thanks always for stopping by my blog.

Hello There!

IMG_0933

Today, my inspiration was from color. I wanted to create a project with Wisteria Wonder. I've tried to use it on a few earlier occasions, but could never seem to get it to work. This time, I got it.

From a plain sheet of Wisteria Wonder cardstock and the Chalk Talk Stamp Set (which was still on my table from yesterday's post), my project was off to a good start. I thought I would go a little Vintage with it, so I pulled out my Everything Eleanor stamp set. Not quite Vintage, but the background stamp from Everyhing Eleanor was perfect. The decision for the center was either the bird from Everything Eleanor, or a quick punch with my Elegant Butterfly punch.

The butterfly won. Now for color? A few posts ago, I punched some butterflies with patterned paper, so I didn't want to do that again. After sampling a few colors, Coastal Cabana won, hands down!!!

If you remember a while back, I posted some card design tips and talked about "color saturation", or the intensity of color. The Coastal Cabana cardstock has the same color saturation as the Wisteria Wonder cardstock. They work beautifully together, and that one pop of color adds so much.

The Life You’ve Imagined

Happy day to you today!

Here's another pretty Spring card inspired by the cover of the new 2013-2014 Catalog.

Yep, these colors are featured on the catalog cover! Inspiration comes from places you lease expect. I was deciding on a project for this post and the catty was at the end of my table with my Floral Framelits on top. In no time at all, my card was born.

It'll usually take one or two little bits of prodding from either a product that I didn't put away, a color combination I see somewhere, or even a scrap of paper, to get me moving toward a completed project. It's always so much fun to create this way…the result is always a pleasant surprise.

Try it…Look around your stamping space, and pay attention to what catches your eye. Take that "inspiration" and start creating. You'll also be pleasantly surprised to see what evolves. If you do try this, let me know. I'd love to hear from you.
