A Peaceful Place At The Paper Players

Happy Sunday, Friends!

The Paper Players Design Team has a Color Challenge this week.  Joanne is our Host and She chose a neutral, monochromatic color scheme: Gray, White, Black and Silver.  This color palette can work for lots of themes and designs.  Have fun with it!

Crafting My Card

I was drawn to the Peaceful  Place Designer Series Paper when I saw Joanne’s colors. I focused on the more generic patterns in the paper pack.

  • The gray and white buffalo check patterned paper layer is attached to a Basic White layer on a Basic Gray card base..
  • The Basic White layer measures 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.
  • The patterned paper layer measures 4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • Each of the focal point layers is a 3″ square.
  • Attaching the smaller layers with Dimensionals is an easy way to add depth and draw interest to the pretty wreath.

  • The wreath is die cut with the Seasonal Swirls Dies.
  • “Merry Christmas” is one of the sentiments in the Sparkle of the Season stamp set. This sentiment happens to be a favorite. The font is crisp and clean, and works well with the buffalo check patterned paper.
  • The pretty black and white Gingham Ribbon is soft and 1/4″ wide. That makes it a worthy alternative to Baker’s Twine.
  • Subtle Shimmer Sequins are scattered on the smaller layers and wreath. It’s difficult to see the shimmer and shine in the photo, but they are really beautiful.

I love to see cards with some detail on the inside. The holly sprig die cut inside this card is stamped with Smoky Slate ink.

So, pull out your grays, add some black and white, scatter a bit of silver shimmer and create something fabulous to link up with us over at the Paper Players.

Cherish Happy Moments

Happy Sunday, Friends!

We’re celebrating a new Challenge at the Paper Players this week.  Our amazing Claire is hosting a Theme Challenge…  “Give Thanks”!

Each day, I think about everything I have to be thankful for. I’m sure you can think of so many happy moments you’ve recently had… you’ve probably had a few today!

When I was planning my card for today’s post, I came across this sentiment from a stamp set called Etched In Nature.  The pack of Ever Eden Designer Series Paper was out on my workspace. The pattern I’m featuring today was on top.  I thought there was nothing more fitting than to pair this beautiful leaf patterned paper with this sentiment.  I’m always amazed at how card elements will be inspirational.!

On a Basic White card base, I added a Soft Succulent cardstock layer, then the patterned paper layer. The patterned paper features beautiful gold foil accents, so I punched two gold foil circles to use as an anchor for the die cut sentiment frame.  The sentiment is stamped with Evening Evergreen ink. I added a few Gold Metallic Pearls to embellish the frame and die cut two Basic White leaf sprays to bring the white up from my card base.

So, take a look at some of your heartfelt sentiments, add some beautiful patterned paper, cut a few layers and create something “thankful” to link up with us over at the Paper Players.

Peaceful Wishes For The Paper Players

Happy, Sunday!

It’s time for another new Challenge with the Paper Players.  Our amazing Ann has a Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge this week.  Choose a row in the grid below horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Follow the instructions in your choice and create something fabulous to link up with us.

I decided to follow the diagonal criteria in the grid – a die cut, patterned paper and foil.

Here’s How I Did It
  • I cut a piece of the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper for my card layer and background. The patterned paper is full of silver foil snowflakes.
  • The two die cut “snow hills” are cut using my Curvy Dies
  • .With a Blending Brush and Basic Gray ink, I added some shading to the snow hills.
  • The white vellum pine trees are die cuts from the recent Peaceful Christmas Paper Pumpkin Kit.  They added some subtle dimension to my winter scene.
  • They’re attached with Mini Glue Dots at the base which I tucked under the snow hill.
  • The birdhouse and cardinal are from the Garden Birdhouses stamp set. I shaded the birdhouse and cardinal with Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut them.
  • The “peaceful” sentiment is from the Peaceful Christmas Paper Pumpkin Kit.  The font and sentiment work well with this peaceful winter scene.

So, pull out some great patterned paper, add some foil  and a die cut or two and create something peaceful to link up with us over at the Paper Players.

A New Sketch With The Paper Players

Welcome back to another Paper Players’ Challenge.  This week,, LeAnne has a fun new sketch for us.

My card features the Gingerbread & Peppermint Memories & More Card Pack.  The cards and elements in the Pack coordinate perfectly with the Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper.

All of my card elements form three vertical imaginary rectangles across the cooling rack layer. The sentiment and thin horizontal banner follow the sketch.

This card came together quickly. I used Cinnamon Cider cardstock for my card base. The Real Red layer added a little dimension to the patterned paper.  A few white Gingerbread & Peppermint Acrylic Shapes embellished my sentiment layer and banner.

I decided to decorate the inside of this card.  That’s something I always admire, but don’t do often enough.

So, grab some amazing patterned paper, add your own version of a cooling rack, some candy and a heartfelt sentiment and crate something sweet to link up with us over at the Paper Players. We always enjoy seeing your creations!

Clean And Simple Words of Cheer!

Happy Sunday!  It’s a new week and a new challenge over at the Paper Players. Jaydee is hosting a Clean and Simple Birthday Challenge. The rules for Clean and Simple cards are lots of white space, minimal layers and little or no embellishments.

My card base and top layer are cut from Basic White cardstock. I used the Christmas Cheer Dies from the Words of Cheer Bundle. The shadow die is cut using Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  When I’m in doubt over what coordinating color to use, I always go with a yellow and it works well. Here, I used Bumblebee as an accent color. The flowers are die cuts from the Stitched Bloom Dies.

More Card Details

Using the flowers makes this card more feminine. To create a more masculine look, you can substitute the flowers with stars or small circles and change the colors. Not only is this card clean and simple, it’s also quick and easy.

The “happy” shadow die cuts some pine boughs and sprigs and is quite fancy.  I trimmed them off to get a plain shadow.  This is an example of how versatile this die is.  I used the “Birthday” stamp from the Art Gallery stamp set.  I liked the clean and simple font.

Creating cards like this one is a great way for me to go back to my personal product inventory and have fun with what I have.  I used three different Bundles for this very simple design.  I hope you have some fun mixing and matching what you have on hand.

So, find that large word die, cut a shadow, add a few flowers or stars or maybe a balloon and create something clean, simple and fun to link up with us over at the Paper Players.
