Gingerbread & Peppermint For The Paper Players

Hello Friends!  It’s Sunday and the beginning of another Paper Player’s Challenge.

This week, Claire is hosting a color challenge. She chose  a bright and cheery color palette –  Real Red, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.

I wanted to get my hands on the Gingerbread & Peppermint Suite from the minute I saw it in Stampin’ Up!s new Holiday Mini Catalog.   This is a fun Suite that will make you want to fire up your over and bake lots of fresh holiday cookies  The die cut “frosting” looks delicious!

My card is a clean and simple version of baked cookies along with some peppermint candy.  The stars and matching frosting are die cuts using the  Gingerbread Dies from the Frosted Gingerbread Bundle. The sentiment is a stamp from the Frosted Gingerbread stamp set.

I die cut the peppermint candy all at once using one of the Gingerbread Dies and a pattern from the Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper.  The die fits perfectly on the pattern. You can create a lot of peppermint candy with one sheet of DSP and the matching Die.  See my photo below.

You can take a look at the Bundle images below and click on the image for more details about this fun Suite.

So, pull out your Real Red, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight cardstock or patterned paper, die cut some fun images, add a sentiment and link up with us over at the Paper Players.  We love to see what you create.

Beside the Seaside For The Paper Players!

Happy Sunday!

This week at the Paper Players, Joanne has a Theme Challenge for us. “Beside the Seaside” is one of my favorite places to be.  The salt air, sand, the sounds of the seagulls, and the tranquility of the ocean all come to mind when I think of the beach.  My favorite time on the beach is during the months of September and October The ocean breezes are still warm and the beaches are much less crowded.  It’s a peaceful place, indeed!

I went back into my stamp archives for the High Tide stamp set. It’s a favorite summer stamp set and I love the sentiments.  I’m sending this to someone special who could use some congratulatory encouragement!

Along with all of the stamped images from the High Tide stamp set, I used lots of ink: Real Red, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Soft Sky. Whew!! I added my stamped top layer to a Crumb Cake card base and decided to tuck a Real Red layer between the two. The Real Red layer gives the image layer some extra depth.

I went off the grid a bit today going back into my archives, but I enjoyed my visit beside the seaside! Thank you, Joanne!

So, think about being “beside the seaside” add lots of ink, a Real Red layer and link up with us over at the Paper Players. We love to see your cards.

Frightfully Cute For The Paper Players!

Hello Friends and Happy Sunday!

It’s Ann’s week at the Paper Players and she has a very cool Sketch Challenge for us. Sketch Challenges are always fun because they give you a lot of artistic license. You can do whatever you want, as long as you follow the sketch. You can turn the sketch upside down, on its side or just follow it as shown.

I thought I would give a new stamp set a little test drive.  I used the Frightfully Cute stamp set from the upcoming Mini Catalog. This stamp set is absolutely “frightfully cute”. There are seven Halloween themed images and seven matching sentiments. The images and sentiments are perfect for cards and tags.

Here’s how I put this card together and followed today’s sketch:

  • I cut a standard A-2 Pumpkin Pie card base 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″.
  • The Basic Black layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″;
  • The fun Polka Dot patterned paper is part of the Cute Halloween 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This layer is cut 4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • In the center of the design, I added three horizontal strips of cardstock. Two are cut 3/4″ x 3 1/2″. The center strip is 3 1/8″ x 3/4″.  I used Highland Heather, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie cardstock.
  • The Pumpkin Pie sentiment layer is 4 1/8″ x 2 3/8″.
  • The Basic White sentiment layer is 2 1/4″ x 4″.
  • I used Highland Heather and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink for my stamped images and sentiment.
  • Just for fun, I added a few Matte Black Dots.

So, grab some fun patterned paper, add a few layers and a sentiment and create something incredibly cute to link up with us over at the Paper Players.

It’s Clean and Simple Week At The Paper Players!

Hello Friends and happy Sunday to you!

We have a brand new challenge over at the Paper Players!  It’s Clean and Simple week and our fabulour host, LeAnne, has a fun Clean for us. Your project must be Clean and Simple and must have a “bee” on it!  By “Clean and Simjple” we mean, your design must have minimal layers, little or no embellishments and lots of clean white space.

Along with a new challenge, I thought I would showcase a new stamp and die bundle.  The Season’s Blessings Bundle is in the Annual Catalog. This is one of those Bundles that has so many possibilities. The images are seasonal or not, depending on how you want to use them.  The Seasonal Basket Dies match the images in the stamp set, and also include two really fun basket dies.

About Today’s Card

My card is Clean and Simple. A Basic White layer on a Basic White card base.  My color palette has deeper tones: Polished Pink blooms, Soft Succulent leaves and a bumblebee colored with Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Blends.  A Soft Suede sentiment holds its own next to Polished Pink and Soft Succulent.

That little swirling bee is stamped with an image from  the Garden Wishes stamp set and die cut with the matching Dandy Wishes Dies.  When I was thinking about which bee image to use, this one came to mind.  I remembered he came with the swirly stamp.  It’s always fun to mix in a random stamp.

So, find a “B” in your stamp archives, add a bloom or two, keep it clean and create something fun to link up with us over at the Paper Players.

Cenebrate Stars & Stripes With The Paper Players!

Happy Fourth, Friends!

I couldn’t help but to do red, white and blue when I saw Anne Marie’s Theme Challenge for us at the Paper Players.

It’s All About The Inspiration

My inspiration for today’s card came from my last post. I covered the bottom right corner of the top card layer with patterned paper strips. This is very easy and fun to do. I promise I’ll wait a little while before I do it again!

The dies from the Playful Alphabet Dies cut the word “CELEBRATE”. My Daffodil Delight bursts are die cuts from the Dandy Wishes Dies.  I embellished my card with little punched stars and added a few Resin Dots for some color balance.

Just looking through my stamps, paper and dies gives me inspiration.  Try taking a few minutes to browse through your supplies. There’s no doubt you’ll be able to create something you never thought you could!

So, grab your favorite stars and stripes and create something to celebrate with us over at the Paper Players.
