A Fun Snowy Greeting

Here’s a quick and easy card showcasing the Snowy Wonder Bundle and the Snowy Scenes Designer Series Paper. Creating this fun card design is easy with the perfect pairing of Designer Series Paper, stamps, and dies.

Let’s make a card!

  • I started with a Petal Pink cardstock card base that’s 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″.
  • The plaid patterned paper layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • The Poppy Parade cardstock square is 2 1/2″.
  • I hand cut the banner. It measures 2″ x 4″.
  • The snow globe and base are die cuts directly from one of the sheets in the Designer Series Paper pack.
  • The banner on my card is 2″ x 4″.
  • I measured up from the bottom of the cut DSP about 3/4″, and made a pencil mark estimating the center.
  • Since the banner is 2″ wide, my center will be 1″ in from each sice.
  • I put a pencil mark at the 1″ mark from the side and 3/4″ up from the bottom.
  • I made an angle cut from the bottom corner of each side of the patterned paper to the center pencil mark. See the photo below.
  • You can used this formula with any size banner you want to meke. Simply adjust the measurements.

Assembling this card is also easy. Just attach the large patterned paper layer to the center of the card base front. Adhere the square to the left side of the card front as shown, and adhere the banner over it. I attched the die cut snow globe and base with Dimensionals.

The sentiment is embossed with WOW White embossing powder.

So, make a few banners and use them for fun card front layouts. Finish off your card with a fun focal point, and add embellishments.

Ink A Decorative Mask And A Free Tutorial

I have so much fun with ink and Masks (Stampin’ Up! refers to stencils as “Decorative Masks”. I created the background designs for each of my featured cards using the same Decoraive Mask, a Sponge Dauber, and/or Blending Brush, and ink.

Keep in mind, it doesn’t have to be perfect! It has to be fun for you. You can truly express your unique creativity by enjoying the ease of matching the already coordinating color palettes in the Stampin’ Up! color family to a Decorative Mask.

Both of my backgrounds were created using the Autumn leaf Mask from the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks. They’re in the CLEARANCE RACK! YAY! All of the details are at the end of this post in my PRODUCT DETAILS section.

I also created a simple written PDF Tutorial you can download and file for future reference. The process is so easy, you probably won’t have to refer back to it, but you’ll have it anyway. Enjoy this fun process and I would love to hear about your experience with Masks.

I thought it would be fun to share other cards I created using Decorative Masks.

My card below showcases one of the patterns from the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks. I stenciled a “frame” background using the Mask. You can click on the photo to go to my original post.

I created the Clean And Simple card below using the Lovliest Layers Decorative Masks. You can click on the photo to go to my original post.

And, here’s another card I created using the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks.

One of my true favporites is the card bwlow. I used the Leaves of Beauty Bundle for this one. The Decorative Masks create the flower focal point. There’s a stamp and die in the Bundle that coordinated with the Masks to stamp the image, then die cut it. It’s quick and easy to create a beautiful card.

So, grab your favorite Decorative Mask, create a beautiful inked background or focal point, and share your project with someone special.

Celebraing Reindeer Days And A Tutorial

Typically, the beginning of a new month is hectic for me. Now that I’ve announced my new Customer Card Kit, I can sit back and create projects to share.

September was a busy month. We travelled to Vermont for a family wedding and spent some time there. I have a very special celebration coming up thiis month. My son is getting married. I am so happy and excited for him and my soon to be daughter-in-law. I know it will be an amazing, heartfelt experience for me to witness this very special occasion. And, I am designing a very special card for them!

Until then, I’m back in my craft room doing what I love to do – create card designs and cut paper!

I thought it would be fun to use the Reindeer Fun Bundle and the Reindeer Days 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. Inspiration for this card came from the die cut gift boxes. I wanted to use them, but wasn’t sure how. After placing them up and down a card front, I came up with the idea of using the frame die in the Die Set.

The frame turned out to be a perfect “grounding layer” for the gifts. I decorated it with a little bit of die cut holly, added a few snowflakes, popped it on Dimensionals, and stamped a large sentiment. It came together quickly, once I die cut the frame.

So, do you want to make a card?

  • The patterned paper is my color palette inspiration: Crumb Cake, Poppy Parade, and Garden Green.
  • I cut a Crumb Cake crdstock card base 4 1/4″ x 11″, and scored it at 5 1/2″.
  • The Reindeer Days patterned paper layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • I cut a Crumb Cake cardstock layer 3 1/4″ long by 3 1/2″ wide and die cut the center using the large “window” die from the Reindeer Fun Dies.
  • I cut a piece of Vellum cardstock 3 1/8″ x 3 3/8″ and adhered it to the back of the die cut window frame.
  • The Poppy Parade cardstock mat layer is 3 3/8″ x 3 5/8″.
  • I attached the Crumb Cake frame to the Poppy Parade layer with Dimensionals.
  • The gift boxes and holly are adhererd to the frame with glue.
  • I stamped the sentiment with Poppy Parade ink and centered it under the frame.
  • The Basic White sentiment layer is 1″ x 3 3/8″.
  • The snowflake embellishments are from the Adhesive Backed Snowflake Assortment.

The inside of the card is stamped using a sentiment and an image from the Reindeer Fun Stamp Set.

You can download the PDF Tutorial by clicking the blue button below.

This is a fun card to put together. Try the design with patterned paper you have on hand and match up the die cut elements. The Reindeer Fun Bundle gives you everything you need to create this card design. The Reindeer Days Designer Series Paper gives you that little extra bit of “happy”. The coordination is perfect!

So, create a frame, add fun elements, a sentiment and a few snowflakes, and create a cheerful Holiday wish.

A New Autumn Splendor Tutorial

I recently spent some time in Vermont, so I’m thinking about Autumn. Of course, Vermont is always beautiful. We were there as the leaves were just beginning to change. I saw hints of bright orange, yellow and “Cherry Cobbler” dotting the green mountains. At the foot of beautiful mountain views, there was a small stream at the end of our property. There were horse stables on the other side of the stream. We watched the horses wandering near the stream each morning. They are such beautiful animals.

Anyway, I’m back in New Jersey, and it’s all about Autumn for me. I thought it would be fun to celebrate the Season with another card using the Autumn Expressions Designer Series Paper. It’s a quick and easy card, but the addition of the sentiment layer and gold embossed sentiment makes this card super special.

By the way, I used Stampin’ Up!’s new Embossing Powder. I saw a huge difference in the result. The new Powder is finer in texture and, to me, it melts faster and more evenly.

So, let’s make a card! You can download a PDF Tutoril. There are photos so you can see how I put the sentiment frame together.

  • I cut a Very Vanilla cardstock card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, and scored it at 4 1/4″.
  • The Cajun Craze cardstock card layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.
  • I cut the patterned paper layer 4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • I die cut the sentiment label using gold cardstock.
  • I die cut a second sentiment layer using Cajun Craze cardstock. This gave me the inside embossed sentiment piece.
  • The sentiment is embossed using Gold Embossing Powder.
  • Once I attached the layers to the card base, I adhered two lines of Stampin’ Seal to the right side of the top patterned paper layer.
  • I folded about 9″ of ribbon in half and attached it to the Stampin’ Seal.
  • The sentiment layer is attached with Dimensionals over the ribbon.

I created a quick PDF Tutorial with photos that you can download to see how I attached the Cajun Craze sentiment layer to the gold frams.

I thought it would be fun to stamp the inside of the card and add a little stamped image.

This is such a quick and easy design, and I had fun heating up my Embossing Tool.

So, think Autumn! Find a great piece of patterned paper, attach a special sentiment layer and create something shiny to share.

New Video To Light The Year This Holiday Season

I am excited to showcase the new Light The Year Bundle. It’s in the September-December Mini Catalog on page 41. It’s sweet, simple, and full of possibilities. The mixed font sentiments in the Stamp Set are also sweet, simple and truly send a beautiful message!

The Light The Year Stamp Set is photopolymer. Looking closely at the lanterns, you can see the Stampin’ Up! Design Team did an outstanding job with the designof the lantern images. They have amazing dimension, as do the ribbon bows, candles and pine cones.

I chose to feture two lit lanterns in my element cluster. You can add a third, and maybe a few more pine cones. Creating a set of tags using just a single lantern would be pretty, as well. And, how about a few 3″ x 3″ note cards? This would make a beautiful little gift. There are so many possibilities for the elements in the Light The Year Bundle. I will be showcasing more projects in future posts.

I put together a Video Tutorial to show you how quick and easy it is to put this element cluster togeher. Once you get to know the Bundle, you can create beautiful projects using the lanterns as your focal point. Have fun with color, as well. You can go in so many different directions with these lanterns. Although, this is a holiday card, I think an Autumn themed lantern would be beautiful, as well.

So, let’s make a card!

  • I cut a Basic Beige cardstock card base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, and scored it at 4 1/4″ on the long side.
  • The Country Woods DSP top layer for the card front is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.
  • I stamped the lanterns and candles with Pebbled Path ink.
  • The ribbon bows are stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink, and the pine boughs are stamped with Mossy Meadow ink.
  • I used a little bit of Lemon Lolly ink and a Sponge Dauber to lightly brish the ink to the inside of the lanterns.
  • The pine cones are two-step stamping. The linear stamp is stamped with Early Espresso ink and the layering stamp is stamped with Crumb Cake ink.
  • The filler pieces are die cut using Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow cardstock.
  • I stamped the sentiment with Pebbled Path ink directly to the DSP card front top layer.

The inside of the cad is stamped with one of the sentiments from the Stamp Set. For a little interest, I added a stamped pine bough.

The Video Tutorial below shows details to put this card together. There’s also a Project Sheet Tutorial you can download.

So, cut your card base, add a top layer of patterned paper, stamp the lanterns, boughs, and pine cones, and create a pretty element cluster. Send it off to family and friends for the holidays.
