I had a completely different post planned for today, but there’s something to say about being flexible. See, I’m not stubborn at all!
I subscribe to my very talented stamping friend, Brian King’s blog. Today, Brian posted his card for the Global Design Project. At the same time, Mary Fish was having a little fun over at the Pals private Facebook Gallery. So, because of Brian and the GDP Design Team, I’m CASEing Connie Collins’ beautiful card for this week’s Challenge, and… my project features Washi Tape for the Pals’ Gallery.
Connie’s card is absolutely gorgeous… simple and sparkly.
CASE is an acronym for “Copy and Share Everything”. You can either copy every design element of a card or use the project for inspiration. I believe CASEing another artist’s work is a wonderful compliment, providing proper credit is always given.
I was inspired by Connie’s “love” theme and her use of the horizontal striped paper. My focal point is centered along with Connie’s, but mine has a few more layers. My card is more “casual” than Connie’s, but we both embellished the patterned paper. I used a Thinlit die to crop my sentiment which was also inspired by Connie’s work.
This was a fun CASE. Thank you Connie and the GDP Design Team for the challenge.
So, grab your favorite patterned paper, snip and crop a few elements for a center focal point, and create something magical.

There's so much to be thankful for. While I was crafting this card, I was thinking of all I hold so dear and how much I have to be thankful for. When I finished, I decided this will be the card I send off for Thanksgiving.
The design lends itself to a beautiful inside personal message, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate the Season of Thanks!
This card got started with one single maple leaf stamped in Chocolate Chip ink onto Crumb Cake card stock. (Had to ink up my Magnificent Maple stamp today). The leaf was so pretty, I stamped another onto Very Vanilla card stock and fussy cut both.
Since I remembered the good design "rule of thirds", I added a cropped leaf from the Simply Created Tablescape Kit; now I had three leaves.
A little Crumb Cake Washi Tape from the Epic Day suite, and some Daffodil Delight from the Gingham Garden suite gave my large Tangerine Tango, rounded corner layer a little interest.
I stamped my "Thankful" sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink onto some Very Vanilla card stock and hand cropped the banner.
A little Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper strip across the center of my card helps to ground my layer, and the three Chocolate Chip circles (punched with my Owl Builder Punch), along with the stamped "for" in the bottom right corner, do a great balancing act.
Some Linen Thread and a handful of Stampin' Dimensionals were the finishing touches.
There's lots going on here, but this is a simple design and lots of fun.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper #132194
Stampin' Up! says…"Warm colors and texture-rich designs will make you want to wrap up in your favorite sweater and scarf for a little seasonal crafting.
There've been quite a few cards I've showcased that include Washi Tape. I have to admit, I'd seen it in craft stores, and when Stampin' Up! launched their Washi Tape designs with the Epic Day This and That Journal, I was excited to try it.
There's nothing like Washi Tape…the designs are beautiful and it's fun to use.
It's easy to experiment with the different designs, colors, and placement, since it's very forgiving. It can be lifted and re-placed with very little effort. You can border it, banner it, flag it, write on it, stamp on it and embellish it. It's a paper crafter's dream!
This card was completed in very little time. Here's the how to:
The Whisper White card base is a 4 1/4" square
A 4" square of Basic Black is attached to the card base with Snail Adhesive;
The third layer is a 3 3/4" Whisper White square with rounded corners and attached with Stampin' Dimensionals;
I used two strips of Washi Tape from the Gingham Garden collection. The Basic Gray and White strip of Washi Tape is from the Epic Day Collection. All three strips were simply wrapped around the cardstock to create a colorful border pattern.
"Happy Big Day", from the Chalk Talk stamp set, is stamped with White Craft Ink onto Basic Black cardstock and cropped with the matching Chalk Talk Framelit.
I used my 1 1/4" circle punch for the Strawberry Slush circle to balance the color pallette and center my design.
Why write it on a boring ol' whiteboard when you can use a trendy chalkboard? Recreate the look and feel of a chalkboard with the Chalk Talk Stamp Set. Coordiantes with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies.
